Dr. Tim Lawler is a distinguished physician specializing in Occupational Medicine, with a comprehensive background in both medical practice and leadership. He currently serves as the Associate Medical Director at Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group in San Diego, CA, where he oversees occupational medicine and preventive health services.
Dr. Lawler’s medical journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, accompanied by a minor in Spanish, from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO, where he graduated magna cum laude. He then pursued his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCUMB-COM), where he was part of the Honors Matriculation Program. Dr. Lawler furthered his expertise with a Master's in Public Health (MPH) from National University in San Diego, CA.
His professional training includes a Transitional Internship at Naval Medical Center San Diego and a Residency in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lawler’s career is marked by a series of prominent roles, including serving as the President of US HealthWorks Medical Group of Wisconsin SC, where he oversaw several clinics throughout Wisconsin - and guided them in providing occupational and urgent care services.
Dr. Lawler has a notable military background as a Flight Surgeon, having served with the Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 225 in Japan, and the Marine Wing Support Squadron 373 in support of combat missions in Afghanistan. His exemplary service earned him the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Fleet Marine Force Qualification Warfare Device.
In 2019, Dr. Lawler founded Cardinal Medical Services, Inc. - a specialized consultancy focusing on Life Care Planning, Medical Cost Projections, and Expert Medical Witness testimony. This venture underscores his dedication to providing comprehensive medical assessments and expert insights, in addition to supporting legal professionals and individuals in navigating complex medical and financial planning.
An accomplished academic, Dr. Lawler has contributed to the field through publications, such as the study on the prevalence of burnout among occupational and environmental medicine physicians. He has also been recognized with numerous awards, including the Surgeon General’s Award for Excellence upon graduation from Naval Flight Surgeon training, and the US HealthWorks Leadership Award.
